Bon Accord Cup

The 2nd team’s game at Lairds was a washout from the week’s rain, but this helped to strengthen the side for Sunday’s re-arranged 20-20 Bon Accord cup game at Fraserburgh which also saw the return of Steve Murphy. Fraserburgh looked to be falling well short until 44 runs came off the last 4 overs, with Liam Bowie carrying his bat for a superb 66, in a score of 114. Murphy took 3 wickets in an excellent spell of 4 overs

In a tense finale where MCC looked to be falling behind the run rate Anderson and Murphy put on 30 and 18 respectively. Addison and Bremenesen both went for ducks and the run-chase seemed to be falling off the tracks until Jones and Duffy came together. There were plenty of swings and misses but Duffy finally started to make contact and the boundaries piled up. Captain Courageous brought Methlick home in the final over with a boundary off the 2nd ball and ending up 30 not out, ably supported by Jamie Jones on 22 NO, taking MCC into the semi-final winning by 5 wickets.
